Golden in color and laced with the taste of cardamom, these soft spice cookies would make a perfect holiday gift from your kitchen.
Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground cardamom, separated (cardamom can be expensive, so look for it in the bulk spice department of your grocery store)
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together shortening and brown sugar. Add honey and egg. Continue beating until well combined.
Mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and 1 1/2 teaspoons cardamom. Add to shortening mixture and beat until combined.
In a small bowl combine sugar and remaining 1/2 teaspoon cardamom. Form dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar mixture. Bake 8 minutes or until cookies are golden and tops are slightly cracked. Cool on a wire rack.
