Cherry Crisp

A fun old-fashioned cherry dessert to serve on Washington's birthday.

Ingredients

Topping:

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces

1/2 cup toasted walnuts, chopped

Fruit:

1/3 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 cans (16 ounces each) pitted tart cherries, drained

Honey Is One of the Oldest Foods

Honey is one of the oldest foods in existence. It was found in the tomb of King Tut and was still edible since honey never spoils.

Directions

Topping:
Mix together flour, oats, sugar and cinnamon. Add pieces of butter, combine with a fork until moist clumps form. Add walnuts to mixture and set aside.
Fruit Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°.
In an 8 x 8 square baking dish, mix together honey and cornstarch. Stir in cherries. Sprinkle topping over fruit mixture. Bake about 30 minutes or until fruit bubbles and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with cream or vanilla ice cream.
