Glazed Apples and Yams

A wonderful accompaniment to roast turkey, this is the perfect side dish for Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

3 pounds yams, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick rounds

5 Granny Smith apples, peeled, halved, cored and cut into 1/4 inch slices

1/2 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

1/4 cup apple juice

1/4 cup butter

1/2 teaspoon salt

Honey is one of the oldest foods in existence. It was found in the tomb of King Tut and was still edible since honey never spoils.

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°Using a 13X9X2 inch baking dish, alternate rows of sliced yams and apples.Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan and heat until boiling. Pour over yams and apples. Seal baking dish tightly with foil and bake 45 minutes. Uncover dish and bake an additional 15 minutes, basting often, until yams are very tender.Serves: 6 – 8
