Honey Flavors and Colors

Honey has different flavors and colors, depending on the location and kinds of flowers the bees visit. Climatic conditions of the area also influence its flavor and color.

Directions

Preheat oven to 425°. Line pie plate with one crust.
Place apple slices in a large bowl. Sprinkle flour over apples and toss to coat. In a small bowl whisk together honey, orange juice, cinnamon, cardamom and orange zest. Pour over apples and toss.
Spoon apples into pie crust. Dot with pieces of butter. Place the top crust on the apples, trim crust and crimp edges to seal. Cut a few 1-inch slits in top of crust to vent.
Bake pie for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350° and bake another 1 hour and 10 minutes or until apples are tender and juices bubble. If the edges of crust begin to darken too much, cover with strips of aluminum foil.
