Honey Tips
How Honey Is Created
Honey is created when bees mix plant nectar, a sweet substance secreted by flowers, with their own bee enzymes.
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
On a cutting board for stability, score ham with shallow cuts about 1/3″ deep. Line cooking pan with foil, and place ham inside, flat side down.
To prepare the glaze, heat the honey and butter in a double boiler. While the ham is baking, keep the temperature of the glaze warm.
Before placing the ham in the oven, glaze the ham liberally with a basting brush. Once the oven is preheated, bake the ham for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Baste the ham generously every 10 to 15 minutes with the honey glaze. When 10 minutes of baking are left, turn on broiler to caramelize the glaze. Watch carefully to avoid burning the glaze. Remove from oven, and let sit a few minutes before serving.
