Spiced Apple Cider Sauce

The sweet spicy flavor of this apple syrup is great atop hot pancakes, French toast or waffles.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups apple cider

1/3 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped into 1/4-inch pieces

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

dash of ground cloves

2 tablespoons butter

Honey is one of the oldest foods in existence. It was found in the tomb of King Tut and was still edible since honey never spoils.

Directions

In a medium saucepan combine apple cider, honey and brown sugar. Heat. Add chopped apple and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
In a small bowl stir together cornstarch, lemon juice and spices. Add to hot mixture and simmer whisking until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add butter and whisk to combine.
Serve sauce warm.
Yields: about 2 cups
