A sweet rice drink infused with a hint of cinnamon. This utterly refreshing beverage is a Mexican favorite.

5 cups water

1 cup uncooked white long grain rice

2 (2-inch long) cinnamon sticks, can be found in spice aisle or bulk spice aisle

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 cup milk

Honey Tips

Honey Is Sweeter Than Sugar

Due to the high level of fructose, honey is 25% sweeter than table sugar.

Place 4 cups of water into a blender. Add rice, cinnamon sticks and then honey. Blend for about 1 minute to chop up rice. Pour into a large glass bowl, adding any rice that may be left in the bottom of blender. Stir in remaining 1 cup of water. Cover and let sit at room temperature at least 4 hours.
Strain liquid through a fine sieve into a glass pitcher or bowl. Discard rice. Stir in vanilla and milk. Refrigerate until very cold. Stir and pour over ice cubes to serve.
