Oatmeal With Apples and Toasted Walnuts

There is nothing as good as a hot bowl of cereal to start the day. Quick enough to make during the week but so special you can serve it to company.

Ingredients

Nuts:

1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

1 tablespoon GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

Oatmeal:

2 cups old-fashioned oats

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup apple cider

1 cup Granny Smith apples, chopped

1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

1/4 cup raisins

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

low-fat vanilla yogurt

Honey is one of the oldest foods in existence. It was found in the tomb of King Tut and was still edible since honey never spoils.

Directions

Nuts: Toast walnuts under broiler until just brown, about 3 minutes. Watch carefully so nuts do not burn. Remove from oven. Place in a small bowl. Drizzle with honey. Toss and set aside.Oatmeal: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add oats and salt. Simmer over medium heat, about 3 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients, except yogurt. Cook an additional 3 minutes or until apples are tender.Spoon oatmeal into bowls. Top with a dollop of vanilla yogurt, sprinkle with toasted nuts and serve.
