Orange Walnut Coffee Cake

Ingredients

Cake:

1/2 cup butter, melted

1/3 cup milk

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1 3/4 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon orange zest

Topping:

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

1/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon milk

1 teaspoon orange zest

1/4 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

Honey Is Sweeter Than Sugar

Due to the high level of fructose, honey is 25% sweeter than table sugar.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.
Cake:
In a large bowl, whisk together butter, milk, eggs and almond extract. Add flour, sugar, baking powder and orange zest. Whisk until just combined, batter will be thick, and then spoon into prepared pan.
Topping:
In a large heavy pan combine all topping ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking and stirring for 3-5 more minutes. Pour over cake.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until cake tests done.
