Savory Sausage and Apple Bake

A tantalizing entree for a cool autumn evening.


1 1/2 pounds mild Italian turkey sausage, cut into 3-inch pieces

2 cups onions, sliced

4 Empire apples, halved, cored, thickly sliced

3 Tablespoons butter, melted


1 1/2 teaspoons ground sage

3 Tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

salt and pepper to taste

To keep their hives strong, beekeepers must place them in locations that will provide abundant nectar sources as well as water.


Preheat oven to 425°. Lightly spray roasting pan with vegetable cooking spray.
Place sausages in pan and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Set aside.
In a large bowl, toss onions and apples with butter to coat. Add honey and sage, mixing well.
Pour off excess fat from roasting pan. Place apple mixture around sausages in pan. Bake for an additional 20 minutes or until onions and apples are golden, stirring occasionally.
To serve place on a platter and sprinkle with parsley. If preferred, use for sandwiches on Italian rolls or French baguettes.
