Sweet and Sour Meatball Appetizer

A favorite party dish, this recipe is a breeze to make since you bake the meatballs in the oven. You can prepare ahead and reheat just before serving. Also delicious served over rice as a main dish.

Ingredients

Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup dry bread crumbs

1 egg, slightly beaten

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, choppped

Sauce:

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 cloves garlic, chopped

3/4 cup chili sauce

1/3 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

1/4 cup soy sauce

No need to refrigerate it. It can be stored unopened, indefinitely, at room temperature in a dry cupboard.

Directions

Preheat oven to 500°.
Meatballs:
In a bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt and parsley. Mix well. Shape into approximately 48 1-inch balls. Place balls on a jelly roll pan and bake for 4 minutes. Stir and continue baking until meat is cooked through, about 4 more minutes. Remove from oven.
Sauce:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add garlic and sauté until just tender. Add remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Cook 3 minutes. Add meatballs. Simmer 3 more minutes stirring to completely coat meatballs and sauce thickens.
Yields: 48 1-inch meatballs
