Pear Breakfast Clafoutis

A rustic French recipe, clafoutis is a custard-like dish baked with fresh fruit. Traditionally served as dessert, we think this not-too-sweet version is perfect for breakfast.

Ingredients

4 eggs

1/3 cup sugar

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 cup half and half

3 tablespoons flour

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

2 Anjou or Bartlett pears, peeled, quartered, cored and thinly sliced

1/3 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

Honey Tips

Honey Is Magic

In the days before biology and botany were understood, people thought it was a special kind of magic that turned flower nectar into honey.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 °. Generously butter a 9-inch square pan.
Whisk together eggs, sugar, butter, half and half, flour, cinnamon and almond extract until well combined. Pour a thin layer of batter onto the bottom of prepared pan. Arrange pear slices on batter, making two layers of pears. Pour remaining batter over pears. Drizzle honey on top evenly. Bake 45 minutes or until clafoutis is golden brown and filling is just set. Remove to a rack to cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
