Baked Yams with Spiced Honey Butter

Always a holiday favorite, this preparation will delight your guests. As the butter melts, it infuses the yams with a sweet spicy flavor.

Spiced Butter:

1/4 cup butter, room temperature

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon grated orange zest

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

4 medium yams

Honey Tips

Honey Is Sweeter Than Sugar

Due to the high level of fructose, honey is 25% sweeter than table sugar.

In a small bowl, beat spiced butter ingredients with an electric mixer until fluffy. (Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated until ready to serve.)
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with foil.
Place yams on foil covered baking sheet. Make a 1/2-inch deep slit down each yam lengthwise, leaving 1 inch of yam uncut at each end. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes or until yams are tender. To serve, using two forks open yams slightly and place a spoonful of butter on each yam.
